Emptiness of Form

My arms ache something intense
The emptiness of this embrace
sears my chest and mind
My tender delta drowns itself
I toss and turn on a reality harder than
the wooden planks I call my bed
My lips burn because yours are absent
my toes curl
my fingers reach and touch nothing
Oh! the vast void that is being alive
not holding nor being held
by my beloved
